But tonight when we kissed..
That last lock clicked

And I am not naive enough to think that cements where this will go
Or that I don’t still have to work every day to be the better me and heal the aches
But when I finally felt your lips
After all the buildup
It wasn’t fireworks or coming home
And yet for a part of me it was, exactly
It was comfortable, like you can enjoy it in the moment
And it made my heart race, like a new drug uncovered
just a buzz of electricity
the memory is a jolt through me
Just enough and then some to know I could do that forever..
Somehow I knew it would feel like that
Like slipping into a hot bath
The pure ecstasy without blistering
That perfect tingling along your skin
Like it’s brand new
Like it’s everything
Everything between us has been
A happy accident
That just comes easily and doesn’t leave
Authentic, simple and magic at the same time
So why would this be any different
If I had a thousand chances I wouldn’t wish it
Any other way
Even if it’s ten years from today
That you say you’re ready
There’s just a hint of fate
That it is supposed to be this way
And whether it was only meant to lead to this and end
If you find happiness in another
I’ll never begrudge you it
Not for a second if it’s good for you
